Manor Park Road
Manor Park Road was declared a General Improvement Area (GIA) in the 1970's to halt the "rat runs" from the High Street to East End Road - a traffic management scheme was created, similar to the Low Traffic Neighbourhood schemes today. Manor Park Road centre was pedestrianised and the car park and small park built; there were 14 car park spaces for residents on the pedestrianised area and the park was laid out for play and recreation. The Bumps are used by children for safe, outdoor play, learning to ride scooters and bikes, by residents to get together and chat and for the midwinter festival with singing, playing music and mince pies!
