The Big Plastic Count 2026
The Big Plastic Count is a campaign that promotes the conversation around plastic and hopes to reframe the communication regarding the plastics crisis and how to reduce our use.
The Big Plastic Count is a vehicle to explore the impact that plastic has throughout its life cycle - on the climate, our health and on the most vulnerable members of society. It needs individuals and families to count the plastics thrown away at home in a one week period. In 2024 there were 1.7 billion pieces of plastic thrown away in one week; 58% burnt, 17% recycled, 14% exported, 11% buried. Each household’s count will evidence a plastic use footprint.
The date of the next Count will be during the 9-15 March 2026 and EEVRA would like the Residents to join and count our plastics in one week – sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear or follow the link and subscribe to The Big Plastic Count 2026.
